Recently there has been interesting changes occurring in the overwhelmingly large energy market. The government is attempting to dethrone the current energy monopolies which, in theory, will allow the millions of energy customers to choose from a host of competitive lower prices.
The energy process consists of three parts: the generation, delivery, and retailing of the energy. Until recently, the incumbent energy provider was able to control all three of these phases with monopolized rates. The government has now made this process a thing of the past in 17 states (and counting). In deregulated states, the current energy providers can now only control 2 of the 3 phases in the energy process, leaving energy retailing up for grabs.
